So you built yourself a home theatre — now what? You’ve bought the fancy TV, the surround sound system, the perfect theatre seating from Palliser and you’re ready to go.
But something doesn’t feel quite right… If you’re still unsatisfied, here are our top 5 ideas for getting the most out of your home theatre system.
6 Ideas to Improve Your Home Theatre
Check your speaker positioning
If your audio system wasn’t set up by a professional, then you may not be getting the best performance possible. Check out this great guide to setting up surround sound speakers from Dolby!
Cover windows and other reflective surfaces
Anything reflective can create glare on the TV. Use curtains to cover windows if you find this is ruining your viewing experience!
Find the optimal distance to view the TV
There is a ton of discussion online about the optimal viewing distance for TVs. Most sources agree that you should take the diagonal size of your TV and multiply by between 1.5 and 2.5 — this blog does a good job of breaking down the science behind these numbers!
Choose an entertainment unit to match your TV
You don’t want your TV over a tiny entertainment unit — it looks ridiculous! Pick an entertainment unit that fits your needs and matches the size of your TV.
Add awesome movie props
If you’re building a home theatre system, it’s probably because you love movies. Why not add some vintage posters and memorabilia from your favourites? Cool decor is sure to put you in the mood whenever you go to watch a film!
Make yourself an amazing snack
Feeling like something is off? Maybe it’s your stomach! That microwaveable popcorn may be tasty, but it doesn’t cut it all the time.
